PRESS RELEASE

Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, has formally declared his full support for the re-election of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, describing the current administration as a clear departure from the failures of the past and a defining moment in the state’s governance trajectory.

In a statement released on Tuesday as visiting the Governor , Ogah cautioned leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against actions and political manoeuvres capable of destabilising the state or undermining a government that has demonstrably raised the bar of leadership in Abia.

According to him, Governor Otti’s performance in office has, within a short period, surpassed the legacy of 24 years of maladministration that left Abia State structurally weakened under the PDP. He noted that the visible improvements in infrastructure, fiscal discipline, public service delivery, and governance reforms are clear indicators that Abia is finally on the path of recovery and sustainable development.

Ogah warned that any attempt to unseat the current administration for narrow political interests would be counterproductive to the collective aspirations of the Abia people, stressing that governance must take precedence over party rivalries.

His position has generated intense debate within the Abia APC, but Ogah maintained that statesmanship sometimes demands difficult but necessary choices, especially when the future of a state is at stake.

“Abia must come before party and personal ambition,” Ogah stated. “This is not about political camps; it is about the progress and stability of our state.”

Dr. Ogah therefore called on all well-meaning APC members, progressives, and stakeholders across party lines to join him in supporting Governor Alex Otti’s re-election in 2027, in the interest of continuity, good governance, and the long-term development of Abia State.
