Since assuming office on August 21, 2023, FCT Minister Nyesome Wike has demonstrated unwavering commitment to revitalizing the Federal Capital Territory, focusing particularly on extensive road projects that are reshaping the city’s infrastructure. Contractors have been swiftly mobilized to various sites, leading to a surge in road and bridge construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities.
One of the key areas receiving significant attention is the Area 1 long stretch road, connecting AYA bridge, which serves as a crucial artery linking commuters from Mararaba/Nyanya to the bustling city center. Notably, attention has been directed towards bridges along this route, facilitating seamless movement within the city.
Bridges such as the one en route to old CBN from Asokoro provide essential connections to Area 11, while the Kabusa bridge plays a vital role in linking commuters to Apo Mechanic, Apo bridge, and surrounding areas like Apo, Gudu, and Areas 7, 8, and 11. Additionally, ongoing construction work on the Wuye bridge further enhances connectivity within the city.
At Berger, construction of a bridge is underway, offering access to Locogoma and the Wuse axis, further easing transportation in the area. Additionally, the Katampe road stretching into Jahi has been explored, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development across different parts of Abuja.
Commuters and residents alike expressed their deepest gratitude to Minister Wike for the extraordinary accomplishments made thus far. The transformative impact of these road improvements is clear, with increased connectivity, smoother traffic flow, and a higher quality of life for all residents of the lively capital city.
