The recent national embarrassment involving Minister Nyesom Wike and a Nigerian military officer is nothing short of a disgrace to our nation. When a serving minister of the Federal Republic publicly insults a uniformed officer, calling him a fool, it reveals the deep moral decay that has eaten into the fabric of our leadership.

One cannot help but ask: What are the Nigerian values?

Do we, as a nation, have any values left to defend?

🔸We hear of German 🇩🇪 values, discipline, order, and precision.

🔸We hear of French 🇫🇷 values, liberty, equality, fraternity.

🔸We hear of British 🇬🇧 values, fairness, duty, and civility.

🔸We hear of American 🇺🇸 values, freedom, courage, and patriotism.

🔸We Hear of Russian 🇷🇺 values, strength, loyalty, and sovereignty, are clear.

But when one asks, what are the Nigerian 🇳🇬 values?, the painful answer echoes in silence.

Our society seems to celebrate the illegal accumulation of unearned and unused wealth. Public office has become a ticket to insult, humiliate and plunder, while honour and service are mocked.

How can a serving minister, who occupies one of the highest offices in the land, openly humiliate a military officer who swore an oath to defend our nation?

🔸𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲?

🔸𝐈𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 and 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐲?

🔸𝐎𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲?

This incident goes beyond one man’s arrogance, it speaks to a national collapse of values. The uniformed men and women of our Armed Forces deserve respect, not ridicule. They risk their lives daily so that others may sleep in peace. To insult one is to insult the institution that defends our sovereignty.

Nigerians now wait to see the reaction of the Presidency. Silence will mean endorsement. The President must act decisively, not just to protect the dignity of the military, but to restore a sense of moral order in governance.

Mr. President, with due respect, you must disassociate your administration from this national embarrassment. We are a country of over 230 million people; surely there are men and women of integrity who can serve without bringing shame to the nation.

It is time to remind our leaders that power without character is dangerous, and authority without humility is tyranny.

𝐍𝐲𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐦 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Recklessness in speech, especially from public officials, must have Consequences.

When U.S. President Donald Trump referred to African countries in derogatory terms, or when he called Nigeria a Disgraced Country, Nigerians were justifiably outraged.

Yet today, a federal minister has vindicated him by demonstrating the very Disgrace, disrespect and disorder we once denied.

If we ever hope to rebuild Nigeria, we must begin by *rediscovering our national values, respect, discipline, accountability, service, and truth*. Without them, there can be no progress, no unity, and no pride.

Until we reclaim our values, even the best policies will fail, because a nation without values is a nation without a soul.
