A Call for Strategic Reflection in Abia North APC and Abia State as a whole~By Onyeani Kalu

My dear party faithfuls, leaders, and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia State.

Today, I speak not just as a concerned member of this great party, but as a voice echoing the silent frustrations of many who believe in the APC’s future in Abia State.

Abia North is home to some of the most distinguished and respected leaders in our party , Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Honourable Nkiruka Onyejiocha, Dr Uche Ogah, among others. This zone has rightly earned its title as the political headquarters of the APC in Abia State.

Yet, despite this wealth of leadership, strength, and influence, we must confront a hard truth: in the last election, the APC Abia North failed to produce a single member of the Abia State House of Assembly. Not one.

This failure demands deep reflection. Have we, perhaps, become so focused on personal victories that we have neglected the larger structure , the grassroots, the local networks, and the assembly seats that give our party depth and durability?

As if that weren’t enough, we boycotted the last local government elections entirely. Today, we stand with no representation in local councils , no real presence where it matters most.

So I ask, honestly and soberly: if Abia North, with all her party heavyweights, could not deliver a single state House member, what hope do we have in Abia Central and Abia South, where we don’t have such political titans?

These are not just rhetorical questions. They are wake-up calls. The consequences of strategic neglect are now clear for all to see. And if we do not act , boldly and collectively , we risk making the same mistakes again.

Let this moment be our turning point. Let us rebuild our grassroots. Let us re-establish our local presence. Let us think beyond individual ambition and invest in collective strategy. Because in politics, as in life, no single tree can ever make a forest.

The time to act is now , united, deliberate, and determined. Abia APC must rise again.
