Dear Governor Otti and Abians,
I bring you greetings from a heart full of gratitude, and pride.
This past Easter, I returned home. I traveled from Umuahia through to my beloved Abiriba community. But this time, something was different. The journey that used to feel like a punishment, a pothole-riddled ordeal, has now become a smooth, peaceful, and enjoyable ride.
Why? Because the road, the long-neglected Umuahia to Abiriba Road, has finally been rebuilt. And not just patched or sugarcoated. It has been properly reconstructed and delivered under the leadership of our very own Governor Alex Otti.
Let us be honest with ourselves: Since 1999, that road has suffered abandonment under government after government. But today, we have seen what true leadership looks like. For the first time in decades, I arrived in Abiriba not with dust and backache, but with joy and pride.
And then I went to Aba.
From Number 1 Asa Road to Port Harcourt Road, all the way to the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, I saw a new Aba. Yes, the same Port Harcourt Road that past administrations under 24 years of PDP told us could not be done by a state government has now been fully done by Governor Otti’s government.
Let me repeat that for the record: What previous Governors said was impossible, governor Alex Otti has done, and done excellently.
But that’s not all.
As I moved around Aba this Easter period, one thing shocked me: I could no longer smell the stench that used to define the city, the 24 year old stench of PDP-era of decay and neglect. The trash heaps that used to litter the streets are gone. The shame we carried silently as Abians is being lifted.
And I ask, what if former governors had done just half of what Alex Otti is doing now? What if they had used their time in office to build instead of loot? By now, Governor Otti would be building superstructures instead of starting from scratch. But here we are, he’s fixing what they abandoned, and doing it with courage, compassion, and competence, forget about the cost because in 2013 to 2014 fuel was 87 Naira a litre today same fuel is 1000 naira a litre and Nigerians are buying it happily without carrying out same demonstration they did when it was 87 Naira a litre.
Now I wonder: when these former governors drive through the roads they ignored for years on their way to their villages, how do they feel? Do they feel shame? Do they feel regret? They should.
Because the people of Abia now see the difference. We know what good governance looks like. We know who to thank.
Abians, let us not be deceived again. Let us not be misled by those who think they can fool us with noise after decades of bad governance . We have seen the light, and we know who turned it on.
Governor Alex Otti is not just building roads. He is building trust. He is restoring dignity. He is reviving Renewed hope. And for that, we thank God.
Abia is working. Abia is rising. And we must never go back.
Thank you, God bless Abia State and God Bless Nigeria.
Your Ever Well Wisher
