In a bold step towards consolidating its governance narrative, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the convening of a high-level National Summit scheduled for May 22, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” the summit is set to bring together the crème de la crème of the ruling party’s political and administrative leadership for a strategic evaluation of its performance in office.

According to the official invitation signed by APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the event will commence at 10:00 AM and is expected to feature President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other key figures across the three arms of government. Also invited are the Deputy President of the Senate, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as all APC governors and their deputies.
The summit is widely regarded as a pivotal moment for the Tinubu administration, now approaching the halfway mark of its first term. With the “Renewed Hope” slogan forming the ideological backbone of the APC’s 2023 campaign, the summit will serve as both a report card and a rallying cry, showcasing achievements, admitting challenges, and recalibrating strategies for the remaining years.
Party insiders suggest that the agenda will span a wide range of thematic areas including economic revitalization, security architecture, infrastructure development, energy reforms, and the strengthening of democratic institutions. Analysts believe this summit could also signal the beginning of internal consolidation within the APC ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
In recent months, the party has ramped up its communication efforts, highlighting wins such as the student loan scheme, forex reforms, and increased capital project spending. However, public anxiety remains palpable over inflation, energy prices, and persistent insecurity in some regions. The summit is therefore expected to strike a delicate balance between celebration and sober introspection.
While some critics dismiss the summit as a mere PR stunt, party loyalists see it as an important accountability mechanism, an opportunity for the APC to re-engage its base and reassert its governing philosophy amid a turbulent socio-political climate.
With the eyes of the nation , and indeed the world, fixed on the Presidential Villa next Wednesday, the APC will seek to prove that “Renewed Hope” is not just a campaign mantra, but a living vision with measurable milestones.
Whether it succeeds in doing so remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the 2025 National Summit will be a defining chapter in the evolving story of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
