Top leaders of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his predecessors, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, have jointly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement took place on Tuesday during the Lagos APC Stakeholders’ Forum 2025 held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event drew together a cross-section of political, traditional, religious, and youth leaders from across the state.

Among those in attendance were Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; members of the APC National and State Working Committees; federal and state legislators; council chairmen; and other party stalwarts.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the motion for President Tinubu’s endorsement was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the gathering after the motion was adopted, said President Tinubu had earned the confidence of Nigerians through his performance and steadfast commitment to national renewal.

“Our president was once the 12th Governor of Lagos State. Having listened to all stakeholders, we have unanimously agreed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves to return as our president in 2027,” Sanwo-Olu declared.
“I believe this message will reach Aso Rock and resonate across the nation,” he added.
Supporting the motion, Oba Shotobi remarked, “We endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office. So, I move.”
In his own remarks, Speaker Obasa said, “In view of the submissions made by all stakeholders and the motion moved by our Royal Majesty, I do hereby second the motion.”
Deputy Governor Dr. Hamzat highlighted the importance of continuity in governance, describing President Tinubu’s leadership as visionary and reform-driven.
“The reforms under President Tinubu are rooted in renewed hope, productive governance, and economic recovery. It is in our collective interest to support his leadership for a second term,” Hamzat said.

He further commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for sustaining the legacy of development in Lagos through the THEMES+ Agenda, which he said has transformed critical sectors such as transportation, healthcare, education, environment, and technology.
“Lagos today stands tall as a model of excellence and a beacon of good governance,” he added.
Delivering a lecture titled “Voter Apathy and the Sanctity of Elections in Nigeria’s Budding Democracy,” former governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) urged APC members to intensify voter mobilisation, especially among the youth.
“Political participation thrives on enthusiasm. When people are motivated, they turn out to vote. We are in a season of renewed hope, let’s translate that into renewed strength for our party,” Fashola charged.
The forum concluded with a resounding call from party chieftains and grassroots leaders for the continuity of leadership under President Tinubu, describing his administration as one that has set Nigeria on a firm path of economic recovery and institutional reform.
