City Boy Movement South East Rises for Renewed Hope:


May 2, 2025 , In a rousing political milestone for the South East region, the City Boy Movement (CBM) Abia State Chapter inaugurates the state expanded Leadership at the capital city of Umuahia, igniting a powerful wave of mobilization toward the 2027 re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The inauguration was not only a declaration of support but also a show of strength, unity, and grassroots readiness.


As the South East City Boy Movement paid a courtesy visit to Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, conferred upon him the title of South East Patron. The delegation, led by Mary Ikoku, CBM State leader for Abia State and Leader of the South East State Leaders Forum of the City Boy Movement, commended the Deputy Speaker's exceptional leadership, dedication to the progress of the South East region, and his impressive legislative record.


During the visit, the group praised the Deputy Speaker's efforts in promoting peace and stability through the Peace in the Southeast project and his advocacy for the South East Development Commission. They also lauded his commitment to the ideals of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his effective representation of the people of Bende.


The Deputy Speaker was particularly appreciated for his constituency projects, including road construction and school rehabilitations, which have positively impacted the lives of the people. The City Boy Movement expressed readiness to partner with the Deputy Speaker's Renewed Hope Partners initiative, aimed at promoting the President's policies and ensuring his re-election in 2027. The Deputy Speaker accepted the honour and pledged his commitment to collaborate with the movement.


The visit culminated in the Deputy Speaker being decorated with the patronage insignia by the APC Abia State Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, formalizing his position as South East Patron of the City Boy Movement. The partnership is expected to drive development and progress in the South East region.


The City Boy Movement also shared plans for the upcoming South East Regional Summit and their expanded executive structure, aimed at strengthening grassroots presence and mobilizing the people for the 2027 elections. With the Deputy Speaker's patronage, the movement looks forward to a fruitful partnership and a brighter future for the region.


In her speech, Dr. Mary Ikoku, the State leader for Abia and Leader of the South East State Leaders Forum of the City Boy Movement, led a thunderous tribute to Hon. Kalu. “Today we are not just inaugurating a state expanded leadership , we are birthing a new political consciousness in the South East,” she declared. “The Deputy Speaker’s support is a defining gesture that tells us clearly: the time for strategic alignment is now. And CBM will lead that charge.”


The City Boy Movement, born from the ideals and momentum of President Tinubu’s presidential campaign, is not a conventional political platform, it is a movement of action, strategy, and people-driven mobilization. Its mission is clear: to secure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and deepen the democratic inclusion of all regions, particularly the historically marginalized South East.


“We are expanding from the state level down to the polling units,” Dr. Ikoku announced. “We are building a machinery that will deliver results. And we are ready to collaborate with Renewed Hope Partners to ensure that President Tinubu’s achievements are understood, appreciated, and rewarded at the ballot.”


The South East State Leaders of CBM also conferred the title of South East Patron of the City Boy Movement on Hon. Kalu, citing his exceptional leadership, legislative achievements, and pivotal role in promoting peace through the Peace in the South East initiative. They also praised his impactful constituency projects, including the Itumbuzo road development, as proof of his hands-on commitment to real progress.


As Nigeria inches toward another historic election, CBM’s South East signals a new chapter for the Region. No longer spectators, the region is rising as a strategic partner in national politics, with voices, votes, and vision.


With Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu as Patron and Dr. Mary Ikoku leading the charge, the City Boy Movement in Abia is poised to reshape the political landscape and deliver one message loud and clear:
