We’ve raised this concern for years: Invest in Igbo land. Build home. Secure your future where you truly belong. But many dismissed it, choosing instead to pour their resources into territories where ownership is conditional , and identity, contested.

Now, with each unfolding statement and action, the reality becomes clearer: you may spend millions acquiring property, but without full political and cultural belonging, your rights remain vulnerable. Today it’s renaming streets; tomorrow, it’s reclaiming entire districts. A Certificate of Occupancy can be revoked. Sentiments can shift. And when they do, what then?

Sometimes, God in His infinite mercy allows discomfort to stir a people back to consciousness. The Jews, scattered for centuries, eventually found unity, resolve, and destiny in returning home to rebuild Israel. Maybe this moment is our own turning point, our divine reminder.

Given our history, especially the painful lessons of the Nigerian-Biafran War and the injustice of the “abandoned property” saga, no right-thinking Igbo man or woman should prioritize building outside Igbo territory.

If we had channelled even a fraction of our post-war resilience and ingenuity into rebuilding Ala Igbo, by now, we would have outpaced Dubai in development and infrastructure.

Let us remember , Dubai was once a desert. It became a global marvel not by accident, but because its people made a deliberate decision to build their homeland, brick by brick, vision by vision.

We still have that opportunity. The time is now. With unity, foresight, and collective will, the South East can become not just a home, but a global destination.

Let’s stop enriching lands that treat us as visitors. It’s time to invest in our own, for the sake of dignity, posterity, and destiny.

The time to build Ala Igbo is not tomorrow. It is now.
