Rising from an Emergency meeting held in Trump International Hotel & Tower New York , In a bold and resolute statement, the Nigerian Global Diaspora Council of Elders (NGDCE) has condemned Senate President Senator Akpabio and the National Assembly for tarnishing Nigeria’s image on the global stage. The Council decries the inability of our legislative leaders to address even a seemingly trivial matter such as sexual harassment allegations, a failure that has led to worldwide embarrassment for our country.
NGDCE is shocked that Nigerians are ignoring the grave allegations surrounding Senator Natasha and her Ajaokuta Mills bill. Despite repeated attempts to bring this matter to light—and even her non-senator husband having to travel to London to implore the Senate President to put her bill on the floor, her voice has been silenced.
This is a critical issue that should concern every Nigerian, yet instead of demanding why a project like Ajaokuta Bill was not allowed to pass , the nation is busy celebrating the suspension of Natasha. What a shameful state of affairs for our people.
The NGDCE warns that the Senators must cease behaving like demigods, detached from the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians. Our leaders, who are entrusted with the nation’s future and are paid by Nigerian taxpayers, must adopt a culture of listening and accountability. Only by embracing genuine dialogue and transparency can minor issues be resolved before they spiral into national crises.

The Message from the National Assembly
What message, then, is our National Assembly sending to the Nigerian people? By failing to transparently investigate and address a case of sexual harassment, the Assembly is inadvertently signaling that accountability is optional. When those entrusted with leadership ignore the urgent need for justice and corrective measures, it erodes the very foundation of trust between the government and its citizens.
Condemnation of Fraudulent Recall Practices
The Council’s concerns extend beyond the mishandling of sexual harassment cases. It has also condemned the secretive and fraudulent collaboration between INEC and Kogi’s former governor, Yahya Bello. The Councils Recent investigation indicate that Bello visited the INEC office and collected the voters’ register for Kogi Central Senatorial Zone. This move allegedly set the stage for a disturbing video showing hungry citizens forging signatures to falsely claim that the people desire Senator Natasha’s recall. Such actions are not only a stain on our democratic processes but also a deliberate attempt to subvert the voice of the people.
A Plea for Reflection and Reform
Nigeria’s hard-fought democracy is under threat. The NGDCE expresses profound shame over the current state of governance under the APC-led administration, which appears to be dismantling the fragile democratic institutions painstakingly built over the years. The Council calls for a deep reflection among the APC leadership, urging them to reconsider their steps before it is too late for Nigeria’s democracy.
NGDCE Expresses Profound Shame Over In-Fighting Among Nigerian Women on Sexual Harassment
The Nigerian Global Diaspora Council of Elders (NGDCE) is deeply ashamed and disturbed to witness women, many of whom have themselves suffered sexual abuse, turning against each other on issues of sexual harassment. This bitter infighting is a heartbreaking consequence of poverty and a corrupt political system that has reduced the dignity of Nigerian women to mere bargaining chips for meager gains.
How can we expect the future of every Nigerian girl child to be secure when those who should be leading the call for justice are instead selling their gender for peanuts from corrupt politicians? Rather than uniting to demand accountability and a safe environment in workplaces, public spaces, schools, and homes, some women are choosing to support and even promote the suppression of their own rights.
It is a missed opportunity of staggering proportions, a chance to stand together against sexual harassment and call for the recall of underperforming, irresponsible Senators has been squandered. Instead, we see a display of self-destructive behavior, with women metaphorically (and sometimes literally) dancing naked on the streets of Nigeria and on social media, endorsing a system that continues to exploit them.
The message is clear: what we tolerate today sets the stage for tomorrow. NGDCE hopes that no woman will ever have to ask for help in the future because the silence and inaction of today have stripped away the power and respect that every Nigerian woman deserves. It is time for a collective awakening, a call for dignity, justice, and unity in the face of a system that has too long exploited our vulnerabilities.
The Nigeria Global Diaspora Council of Elders (NGDCE) commends Senator Natasha for her courageous decision to break the silence on her painful experiences. By coming forward and calling for help, she sets a powerful example for every Nigerian girl, demonstrating that silence is not an option in the face of Sexual Harassment and injustice.
In Conclusion
The Nigerian Global Diaspora Council of Elders stands united in its condemnation of the current leadership’s failures. The NGDCE calls for a renewed commitment to integrity, transparency, and the fundamental principles of democracy. Only through courageous and honest leadership can Nigeria reclaim its global image and ensure that every citizen’s voice is heard and respected.
