The Futility of Envy-Driven Politics
In every political generation, a torchbearer emerges, a symbol of hope, unity, and strategic progress. For the South East of Nigeria today, that man is Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. A son of the soil, a bridge-builder, and a visionary, Kalu has become the political bride of the region , courted by power blocs, respected across ethnic lines, and admired for his poise, intellect, and performance on the national stage.
But as is often the case with rising stars in Nigeria’s political firmament, success breeds envy. Greatness attracts envy. And unfortunately, the South East has not been spared the age-old plague of internal sabotage , that debilitating affliction where sons of the land, consumed by jealousy and propelled by selfish paymasters, seek to pull down what they could never build.

The recent attacks by Mr. Uche Ezewudo and his co-travellers represent a classic case of this cancer. Masked as “criticism,” their salvos are nothing more than orchestrated bile, manufactured from the dark wells of resentment and political bitterness. These individuals, and the greedy godfathers behind them , are not acting out of love for the Igbo nation. They are driven by envy, jealousy, and a fear of irrelevance.
Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu’s ascension to the position of Deputy Speaker was not a fluke. It was a masterstroke of political diplomacy and national confidence in a young, competent, and visionary leader. He did not beg for crumbs, he negotiated for respect. He did not shout in the wilderness, he spoke truth at the table of kings. He is not a noise-maker, he is a strategist, who understands that true leadership is not about newspaper headlines but impact, alliances, and results.
Today, Kalu is redefining the role of a South Eastern leader in Abuja. He is securing federal attention, opening doors for our youth, and restoring relevance to a region long sidelined. He has proven that we can be respected not just for our votes, but for our value.
So who is threatened by this?
The usual suspects: political relics clinging to expired influence; failed contractors who once fed fat from Abuja and now mourn their dry taps; and petty voices who mistake propaganda for politics.

Let it be known: the South East is wiser. We see through the lies. We reject the merchants of division. And we will not allow evil men and women, with their evil eyes and bitter tongues, to derail a divine journey.
Benjamin Kalu is not perfect, no man is. But in him, the South East has a credible face, a reliable voice, and a strategic brain. He is not just a Deputy Speaker; he is a political bridge to the center. The South East must rally around him, not tear him down. We must lift him higher, not drag him into the mud with political jobbers whose time has passed.

And to the plotters, the envious ones, the discontented haters, take heed:
He who digs a pit for another shall fall into it.
Your plots shall consume you. Your envy shall blind you. Your bitterness shall betray you.
The South East has moved on.
We are done with politics of pull-him-down.
We are marching forward , with Benjamin Kalu leading from the front.
Let the enemies of progress be put to shame.
Let the political bride of the South East rise and shine.
Because no amount of envy can stop what God has ordained.
