The leadership of PROJECT IKENNA UKWA 2027 has watched with deep concern and heavy hearts the recent anti-OUK protests within Ohafia Clan, particularly disturbing scenes where some of our mothers were seen publicly wishing death upon Senator OUK, the sitting Senator representing Abia North.
We ask in sincerity: Who did this to us?
When did our political disagreements descend to the level where mothers, custodians of life, symbols of nurture, pillars of moral authority, are pushed into invoking death upon a fellow son of the soil?
This is not who we are.
Ohafia is known for strength, dignity, and honor. Our mothers are revered for wisdom, restraint, and moral clarity. To see such images circulating in the public space does not reflect the best of our heritage. It wounds our collective image. It diminishes our moral standing.
Let it be clearly stated: political disagreement is legitimate. Grievances are legitimate. Advocacy is legitimate. But wishing death on anyone, regardless of political differences, is neither culturally defensible nor spiritually justifiable.
There is life after politics.
Elections come and go. Positions change. Alliances shift. But the damage caused by words spoken in anger can linger for generations.
As we enter the political season, we must guard our emotions and protect our community from manipulation. We must not allow any individual or group to push us into actions we will regret tomorrow. Political seasons are often heated, but wisdom demands restraint.
If there are grievances, let them be channeled appropriately.
If there are misunderstandings, let them be addressed through dialogue.
If there are disagreements, let them be resolved through democratic engagement.
We therefore call on those behind the orchestration of such protests to kindly reconsider their approach and guide their followers back home. Let grievances be presented to the appropriate quarters. Let responsible elders and stakeholders mediate where necessary. That is the Igbo way. That is the civilized way.
PROJECT IKENNA UKWA 2027 believes strongly in issue-based politics, strategic engagement, and constructive opposition where necessary. We reject politics of bitterness. We reject politics of curses. We reject politics of dehumanization.
Abia North deserves elevated discourse.
Our constituency needs development, unity, federal presence, economic empowerment, youth inclusion, and strategic representation, not internal hostility that weakens our negotiating power and tarnishes our public image.
Let us disagree with dignity.
Let us compete with honor.
Let us mobilize with discipline.
The 2027 contest will be decided by organization, persuasion, and the ballot, not by anger or invocations.
May wisdom guide Ohafia.
May unity preserve Abia North.
May conscience prevail over emotion.
Signed:
Leadership
