ONN Ohafia Abia State 11.02.2026

I have read and watched with deep concern the recent anti-OUK sentiments emerging from within the Ohafia Clan. And I am compelled to ask: what exactly has Senator OUK done to warrant a situation where some now go as far as wishing him death?

No matter the depth of political disagreement, no matter the intensity of personal grievances, it should never degenerate into invoking death upon a fellow human being. That is not politics. That is not culture. That is not spirituality.

Even the Holy Scriptures admonish us to pray for our enemies, not curse them ( Matthew 5:44 )

Life is sacred. It is given by God alone. None of us here can create life, not even that of a plant or an ant. So on what moral or spiritual authority do we stand to wish death upon someone created in the image of God?

The 2027 political race must not become a do-or-die affair. Democracy provides legitimate tools for disagreement, your PVC, your voice, your vote. If you do not want someone to win, mobilize lawfully, organize strategically, and vote decisively. That is the civilized path. That is the democratic path.

How has our political space degenerated to the level where hatred now overrides humanity? When did disagreement become demonization?

Senator OUK is not perfect. No leader is. He may have made mistakes; he may have taken decisions that offended or hurt some people. He is human. But imperfection is not a death sentence. Correction is possible. Dialogue is possible. Reconciliation is possible.

This spirit of wishing death upon one another is alien to the Igbo ethos. It is not the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood. It is not the spirit of community. Our heritage teaches us live and let live, resolve disputes openly, and seek redress through dialogue and communal wisdom.

If there are grievances, let them be articulated clearly. Let concerned parties engage him directly. Let issues be ironed out sincerely so that apologies can be rendered where necessary and corrections made where possible. That is maturity. That is leadership. That is civilization.

Ultimately, whoever God ordains to be the Senator representing Abia North in 2027 will be. Leadership and victory come from God. Human plans matter, yes, but destiny is divinely permitted.

For the record, I am not Senator OUK’s spokesperson, nor am I a member of his media team. I speak simply as a man with conscience, deeply saddened by the tone of discourse emerging from Ohafia all because of Politics. This is especially painful considering that many acknowledge Ohafia as one of the major beneficiaries of Senator OUK’s projects and empowerment initiatives.

Which then raises a sincere question: what truly went wrong that could not have been resolved amicably?

May wisdom prevail over anger. May love triumph over hatred. And may our politics never lose its humanity.
